Juniper
Creative
Creative Consultations. Developmental Editing. Document Design.
Juniper Creative is an editorial and creative consultation practice for writers who want to understand their work more deeply.
Founded by writer and developmental editor Megan Alyse, Juniper Creative approaches editing as a conversation between writer, reader, and the work itself. The goal is not simply to make a manuscript “better,” but to help writers see more clearly what they have made, what it is asking of them, and what it might become.
Writers should leave an editorial relationship understanding their work better than they did when they entered it.
ABOUTTHE WORK
Creative Consultation
For writers who need another set of eyes, a conversation, or a place to begin. Consultations are tailored to the writer, the work, and the questions at hand.
Developmental Editing
Close, thoughtful engagement with the larger architecture of a manuscript: structure, movement, patterns, voice, meaning, and the relationship between intention and reception.
Document Design
Manuscript and submission preparation that considers presentation as part of communication. The container should serve the work rather than distract from it.
MEET MEGAN
Hi, I’m Megan. I’m a poet, developmental editor, and the founder of Juniper Creative.
I’ve spent more than a decade writing, publishing, teaching, editing, and generally thinking far too much about what happens when we put words next to other words. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics from the Warren Wilson Program for Writers, and my work has appeared in Rattle, The Rumpus, The Florida Review, Atlanta Review, Atticus Review, LEON Literary Review, and elsewhere.
My first poetry collection, Bone | Fish | Girl, was published by Game Over Books in 2024, and my second, GO HOME, YOU’RE DRUNK, is forthcoming from Purple Ink Press (2026).
I’m a poet first, and that shapes the way I approach everything else. Poetry taught me to pay attention—to syntax, structure, rhythm, silence, ambiguity, and all the strange little ways language can do something entirely different from what we intended.
That’s also what I bring to Juniper. I’m interested in what you’re trying to make, what you’ve already made without realizing it, and what might happen if we look at it together.
Mostly, I really love talking to writers about writing.

LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE MAKING
You do not need to arrive with a perfect manuscript or complete confidence in what you have made.
Come curious. Come willing to look closely. We’ll start there.
